With the presence of Bolivian Vice President Alvaro García Linera, the Prefect (Governor) of Santa Cruz Rubén Costas and municipal authorities, U.S. Ambassador to Bolivia Philip S. Goldberg delivered today in Santa Cruz a new relief donation to assist 1,200 families who were victims of the flooding. The donation includes 170 rolls of plastic material to build 1,000 6-person tents, 2,000 water tanks and 1,000 hygiene kits.
With this new delivery humanitarian relief from the U.S. Government increased its overall relief donation to $437,500 provided in cash, supplies, transportation to flooded areas, temporary housing, repairing of roads, and other efforts. The relief efforts are conducted through a number of U.S. Government agencies and organizations, such as the Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), USAID, the Narcotics Affairs Section (NAS), and the Military Group of the U.S. Embassy in La Paz.

During the delivery, Ambassador Goldberg expressed the American people’s sympathy for the flooding victims in Bolivia: “This relief donation comes from the people of the United States for an ever-friendly country. Mr. Vice President, Mr. Prefect, this is yet another testimony of the willingness of the U.S. people and government to help Bolivia, especially in this time of struggle for so many Bolivian families.”
