MICRO ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Summary of Goals and Objectives


Project Purpose
Micro entrepreneurs, youth, grassroots organizations and communities will increase their economic opportunities and play more active roles in supporting community-based initiatives by learning, strengthening and practicing business-related skills.

Goal 1
BUSINESS AND LIFE SKILLS

Bolivian youth will enhance their business and life skills by participating in learning opportunities. 
Volunteers and their work partners will:

  • train and coach 2500 students in business skills
          (including ICT and English)
  • work with 100 youth associations and women’s organiza- tions to facilitate the training of life skills including: leadership, goal setting, decision-making, self-esteem, resume-writing and interviewing

Goal 2
BUSINESS CONSULTING

Micro entrepreneurs in various grassroots sectors--with a focus on Indigenous Handicrafts and Community Tourism--will learn and practice appropriate small business principles and skills that lead to increased opportunities for long-term income generation.  Volunteers and their work partners will:

  • Consult with 60 microenterprises on new or improved business practices (ICT, bookkeeping, etc.)
  • consult with 60 microenterprises on quality control and effective marketing for their products and services

Goal 3
ORGANIZATIONAL STRENGTHENING

Grassroots local organizations and groups will improve their internal structures and operations, and therefore their capacity for long-term income generation. 
Volunteers and their work partners will:

  • facilitate the establishment of  long-term, participatory strategic planning processes in 20 community-based organizations
  • Facilitate the formation, planning, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation of at least 20 projects involving multiple businesses/ organizations.
