Three Citizens of Santa Cruz Win Fulbright Scholarships to Study in the USA
Javier El-Hage will participate in the Fulbright Academic and Professional Programs for the Americas (LASPAU)/Faculty Development Program. He was born in Santa Cruz, graduated as a Lawyer from Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz - UPSA in 2005 (with Honors). He currently teaches Constitutional Law at UPSA and is a Legal Consultant for the Prefecture of Santa Cruz, the Agricultural Chamber of Commerce (CAO) and the Santa Cruz Civic Committee. Mr. El-Hage wants to pursue an LLM in Constitutional and Comparative Law. He is interested in future academic teaching activities. He has published a few books and written several articles on legal matters.
Saul Rioja will participate in the Fulbright/Institute of International Education (IIE) program. He was born in Arani, Cochabamba and has a Quechua background. He graduated as a Computer Science Engineer from Universidad Autonoma Gabriel Rene Moreno in 2006. He currently works as a Software Developer for GeneSys and Hombres Nuevos Foundation in Santa Cruz. He wants to pursue Master’s Degree in Systems engineering and become a systems developer.
Maria Cristina Zankiz won a Fulbright/Institute of International Education (IIE) scholarship. She was born in Santa Cruz and studied Financial Engineering at Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz - UPSA, graduating in 2007. There are no B.A. Degrees in Music/Performing Arts in Bolivia, though she has studied instrumental performance (strings) since the age of five. She is a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Santa Cruz and teaches Violin at the Carmen Luisa Blanco Instituto Superior de Bellas Artes in Santa Cruz. She took violin lessons for two months with Professor Felix Olschofka at San Diego State University. She wishes to study a Master's Degree in Music Performance and become a solo performer and teach.
