The United States Donates $50,000 to Assist Flood Victims in Bolivia

In response to the national emergency declared by the Bolivian Government, due to several naturaldisasters caused by heavy rains in the country, U.S. Ambassador to Bolivia Philip S. Goldberg hasauthorized the allocation of $50,000 in Emergency Relief Funds. Also, two U.S. Government officials specialized in Disaster Relief will arrive today in the country to evaluate the level of damage and develop an adequate response strategy.

Additionally, the Narcotics Affairs Section (NAS) of the U.S. Embassy authorized the Bolivian Red Devils unit to use its helicopters to support the Bolivian Government and the Prefect’s Office of Santa Cruz as they assess the situation in the areas affected by the floods.

The U.S. Embassy’s Military Group is currently working in coordination with the Bolivian Ministry of Defense to transport and deliver relief supplies, stored in the warehouse both entities share in El Alto. This warehouse was built by the U.S. Embassy to store food and other supplies to be used in humanitarian assistance operations in Bolivia.
