Welcome Message

Philip S. Goldberg, US Ambassador to Bolivia

As the United States of America’s Ambassador to Bolivia, I’d like to welcome you to the Virtual Presence Post of the United States of America for Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Virtual Presence Posts are a new outreach method of U.S. diplomacy to bring together all the information about the official activities of the United States in a city outside the capital.  This is the second VPP in Bolivia—the first VPP was launched in November in Cochabamba.  In addition to launching this website, the U.S. Embassy has named a City Team headed by Debra Hevia, to serve as special outreach coordinators between the American people and the people of Santa Cruz.  Some members of the City Team are actually based in Santa Cruz, such as our Consular Agent, and some are based in La Paz but travel frequently to Santa Cruz.

Although the U.S. Embassy does not have a Consulate in Santa Cruz, with the Santa Cruz VPP we are recognizing our special connection with Santa Cruz and its citizens.  We hope to use this portal to underscore our commitment to this great region, to share the rich diversity of both of our countries, and to strengthen the enduring bond between the people of Bolivia and the United States.
